A - Team and Karate Kid

A- Team: I had very low expectations from the movie. A TV series made into a movie tends to dissapoint. A - Team suprised me. The cast is okay but the maverick antics of the pilot along with special effect makes it a watchable movie. Moreover, the movie is at a decent pace. The big negative is the ending which is quite open ended.

The Karate Kid turned out to be a dissapointment. The old version was definately better. I have a feeling that the Japanese based movies are more realistic than the Chinese/Korean movies. Incidently, Chinese/Korean movies require a certain amount of 'flight of imagination' similar to Hindi movies.

Targets for the next 24 months

The train journey along with recent boozing sessions have resulted in reflection into what I want to be. Some of the things that have cropped up are:

1. Financial goal: equity portfolio of over 1.2 million

2. Skill development: Learn to paint especially water and oil paints.

3. Travel: Visit at least 1 beach/hill station every 6 months

4. Personal: Do not get married, no matter what.

Return to Mumbai

The doctor is willing to give the green signal for my return to office (Conditional to one more visit). Planning to start working from March 15, 2010.

My name is Karan and all I can think of is banal cliches

I happened to watch the movie, My Name is Khan, today. As expected, it happens to be a typical Karan Johar production with the film almost exclusively shot outside India for audiences outside India. Moreover, the film is filled with cliches/misconceptions about how the law enforcement agencies in USA act. Karan Johar seems to think that they are filled with really dumb people. I might be amendable to the movie if the movie is about personnel who discriminate based on race. However, USA comes across as a society of supreme racists wherein people cannot attend to their business without being harassed.

Great Bong has compared it with Slumdog Millionairizing the USA. I really think this is much more than that.

Cervical Spondylitis

Been away from office for the past 2 months due to cervical spondylitis. Hoping to get significantly better in the next couple of weeks and return to work.

FIFA 10

Going to get FIFA 10 for my XBOX this weekend. yipee!!!

Oh Shit, Not Again!

"Oh Shit, Not Again" is definitely the worst book ever to hit Indian bookstores. Filled to the brim and overflowing with banality, this book by Mandar Kokate is a supposed "National Best Seller". It makes you wonder, what is a national best seller.

I would not recommend this even for torture as it might result in death due to agony. Freaking 3 hours of my life wasted on this absurdity.
